Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, recognising his influence in a campaign that has taken PSG to the brink of another domestic title and a Champions League final.
The 28-year-old joins a select group of players to win the award in back-to-back seasons, becoming only the fifth footballer to achieve the feat. His latest triumph follows in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimović, who last completed consecutive wins in 2014.
Dembélé inherited the honour from former teammate Kylian Mbappé, who had dominated the award for five straight years before moving to Real Madrid. Despite an injury-affected season that limited his league starts, Dembélé remained highly effective, delivering decisive performances whenever he featured.
In Ligue 1 this season, he has registered 10 goals and six assists in under 1,000 minutes of action, a noticeable drop in volume compared to the previous campaign but still enough to secure the top individual prize.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dembélé credited his teammates for his success, insisting that collective effort played a major role in his recognition. He also highlighted PSG’s strong season, which has seen them extend their lead at the top of the table.
PSG are now close to sealing another league title and are also preparing for a Champions League final against Arsenal after overcoming Bayern Munich in a dramatic semi-final.
Meanwhile, Désiré Doué was named best young player in Ligue 1, while Lens coach Pierre Sage received the award for best manager after guiding his side into title contention against the Paris giants.
