Osimhen Shines as Galatasaray Beat Stuttgart 2-0 in Champions League

Posted : 05 November 2026

Victor Osimhen delivered an impressive performance as Galatasaray defeated German side VfB Stuttgart 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League league-phase encounter at RAMS Park on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The Nigerian striker featured for the entire 90 minutes as the Turkish champions secured their second victory in the competition. The result also ended Stuttgart's unbeaten start to their Champions League campaign.

Galatasaray took control of the encounter through a brilliant first-half performance from Russian forward Aleksei Batrakov. The 21-year-old opened the scoring in the 12th minute after capitalising on a defensive clearance that fell kindly inside the Stuttgart penalty area.

Batrakov doubled the advantage just three minutes later. He collected a perfectly timed pass from Davinson Sánchez, broke through the Stuttgart defence and calmly finished past goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow to make it 2-0.

The two early goals gave Okan Buruk's side a significant advantage and forced Stuttgart to chase the game. The visitors had an opportunity to respond in the eighth minute when Jamie Leweling struck the inside of both goalposts, but the ball stayed out.

Osimhen remained a constant attacking threat throughout the contest. The Super Eagles forward tested Bredlow with an effort in the 56th minute and continued to trouble the opposition defence with his movement and attacking runs.

He also registered seven shots during the match, including one on target, according to match statistics. However, he was unable to add to his Champions League goal tally.

Stuttgart increased their attacking pressure after the break, but Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakır produced several important saves to protect his team's advantage.

The visitors thought they had reduced the deficit in the 75th minute when Chris Führich found the net. However, a VAR review ruled out the effort because Deniz Undav was offside during the build-up.

Galatasaray held on to secure all three points, taking their Champions League league-phase tally to six points. The victory followed their 4-2 away triumph over French side Lille in their previous European fixture.

The result strengthens Galatasaray's position in the competition as they continue their push for a place in the knockout stages. Stuttgart, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of this season's Champions League campaign after collecting seven points from their opening three matches.

Osimhen will now turn his attention to Galatasaray's upcoming domestic and European assignments as the Turkish champions seek to maintain their winning momentum.
