The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will host the second edition of its Stars Spotlight Webinar Series on Wednesday, July 15, as excitement builds ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The English-language webinar is scheduled to begin at 14:00 GMT (17:00 Cairo time) and is designed to give media professionals and football stakeholders direct access to some of Africa's biggest stars before the tournament kicks off on July 26. WAFCON Morocco 2026 will run until August 16.
The session will be moderated by respected sports journalist Usher Komugisha and will feature seven leading players expected to play prominent roles during the competition. Nigeria's six-time African Women's Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala headlines the panel alongside Zambia captain Barbra Banda and Malawi forward Tabitha Chawinga.
Also taking part are South Africa captain Refiloe Jane, Ghana's Cynthia F. Konlan, Egypt's Nadine Ghazi and Tanzania's Anastazia Katunzi. The players are expected to share their experiences, discuss preparations for the tournament and reflect on the continued growth of women's football across Africa.
CAF introduced the Stars Spotlight Webinar Series to strengthen engagement between players, media and football stakeholders ahead of its major competitions. The initiative provides journalists with an opportunity to hear directly from leading players while promoting greater visibility for women's football on the continent.
During the discussion, participants will speak about their ambitions for WAFCON Morocco 2026, the challenges of representing their countries and the increasing competitiveness of women's football in Africa. The event will also highlight the impact of the tournament in raising the profile of the women's game across the continent.
The webinar will conclude with a live question-and-answer session, allowing accredited media representatives to interact directly with the players. Journalists will have the opportunity to gain insight into team preparations and individual expectations before the opening match of the tournament.
CAF expects the initiative to generate further interest in WAFCON Morocco 2026, with many of Africa's biggest stars preparing to compete for the continental title. The competition is expected to showcase the continued progress of women's football and feature several of the continent's most accomplished players.
