Opta Supercomputer Makes France Favorites as 2026 World Cup Reaches Quarter-Finals

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has reached the quarter-final stage, with the Opta Supercomputer identifying France as the leading contenders to lift the trophy after a series of major upsets reshaped the tournament.

Several traditional football powers have already exited the competition. Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil were all eliminated before the last eight, while Morocco continued its impressive run by defeating both the Netherlands and Canada to earn a quarter-final meeting with France.
