Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu is set to form one of the most exciting attacking partnerships in Turkish football after Mohamed Salah completed his move to the Super Lig club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Egyptian forward joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract following the expiration of his deal with Liverpool, ending months of speculation over his future. The Turkish club officially unveiled Salah on Wednesday after he arrived in Trabzon, with a public signing ceremony scheduled at Papara Park.
Salah's arrival is a major statement of intent from Trabzonspor as the club looks to challenge for the Super Lig title after finishing third last season. His experience, creativity and goalscoring record are expected to strengthen an attack already led by Nigeria international Paul Onuachu.
Onuachu enjoyed an outstanding campaign after making his permanent return to Trabzonspor. The Super Eagles striker finished as the joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with 22 goals and contributed two assists in 30 league appearances, playing a key role in the club's push for a top-three finish.
The Nigerian recently revealed he turned down offers from other clubs because he wanted to continue his career with Trabzonspor. Despite interest from Saudi Arabia and several Turkish sides, Onuachu insisted his future was always tied to the Black Sea club.
"There was interest from various sources. There were clubs from Türkiye that wanted me. There were very serious offers. However, my heart did not want to go anywhere other than Trabzon. The city, the fans and the atmosphere here give me a different feeling and courage," Onuachu said.
The 32-year-old also explained that he had worked hard to secure a permanent return after his earlier spell with the club.
"From the moment I arrived, this city gave me the feeling that this is where I belong. I worked very hard to rejoin, but in the end, the clubs are the decision-makers. If I left Southampton, it would either be Trabzonspor or nowhere at all. I always maintained this desire. I had a different connection with this place."
Salah arrives in Turkey after an exceptional nine-year spell at Liverpool, where he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances and won multiple domestic and European honours. His ability to create chances, score consistently and stretch opposing defences is expected to complement Onuachu's aerial strength and finishing ability.
Trabzonspor will hope the combination of Salah and Onuachu can transform the club into genuine title contenders as they prepare for the new Super Lig campaign.
