Posted : 29 July 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has expressed her full support for the Super Falcons as they continue their campaign at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

In a goodwill message to the nine-time African champions, Omidiran encouraged the players to remain united, focused and determined as they pursue another continental title. She praised the Super Falcons for consistently representing Nigeria with pride and inspiring millions through their achievements on the African stage.

Omidiran, a respected sports administrator and long-time advocate for women's football, said the team has become a symbol of resilience, discipline and excellence. She noted that the players have repeatedly demonstrated the qualities needed to succeed under pressure and urged them to carry the same mentality throughout the tournament.

"As you begin your quest for another Women's Africa Cup of Nations title, I extend my unwavering support and best wishes to our gallant Super Falcons. You have consistently inspired Nigerians with your resilience, excellence and patriotic spirit," she said.

The former Nigeria Football Federation Executive Board member also called on the squad to approach every match with confidence and a winning mentality. She reminded the players that millions of Nigerians are firmly behind them as they seek to add another trophy to the country's rich football history.

"The entire nation is behind you as you chase another WAFCON crown. We believe in your ability to make Nigeria proud once again. Stay united, remain focused and continue to display the fighting spirit that has made the Super Falcons the pride of Africa," Omidiran added.

Throughout her career, Omidiran has played a significant role in the development of women's football in Nigeria. She previously served as Chairperson of the NFF Women's Football Committee, was a member of the FIFA Women's Football Committee, served on the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, and founded Omidiran Babes Football Club. She has also championed several initiatives aimed at promoting youth and women's sports across the country.

She further stated that the Super Falcons' accomplishments have inspired countless young Nigerian girls to pursue careers in football and other sports. According to her, the team's success continues to show that determination, hard work and patriotism can overcome every challenge.

Nigeria remain one of the most successful teams in African women's football history and are aiming to strengthen that legacy with another WAFCON triumph. Omidiran expressed confidence that the Super Falcons have the quality to compete for the title and urged them to make the nation proud.

"Good luck, Super Falcons. Bring the trophy home," she concluded.
