Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan will be looking to end their winless streak when they host defending champions Remo Stars in a heated 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 13 Southwest derby on Sunday. The clash, set for Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, marks the first meeting of the season between two regional neighbours fighting for pride and a rise up the league table.
The Oluyole Warriors come into the derby after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rangers International at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu during Match Day 12. Currently 11th on the NPFL table, Shooting Stars have recorded just one win in their last five matches, alongside two draws and two losses, and have suffered four defeats in 12 games this season. Coach Nurudeen Aweroro remains confident his team will bounce back. “It’s normal in football — you win, lose, or draw. We accept our defeat to Rangers. We will go back and make corrections on our mistakes,” Aweroro said.
Remo Stars, meanwhile, have struggled in their title defence campaign. The Sky Blue Stars sit in 16th place, just above the relegation zone, marking one of their weakest starts in recent NPFL history. Recent rumours surrounding the future of Technical Adviser Daniel Ogunmodede were swiftly denied by the club, but pressure remains high as performances continue to dip.
