France produced a remarkable late turnaround to defeat Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League, with Michael Olise starring as Zinedine Zidane secured his first home victory as national-team coach.
Belgium appeared on course for a major result after Dodi Lukebakio put them ahead in the first half. France, however, transformed the contest after the introduction of Olise and Rayan Cherki, with Désiré Doué equalising in the 77th minute before Cherki put the hosts in front four minutes later.
Olise then took centre stage, scoring twice late on to complete a memorable individual performance and extend France’s unbeaten start under Zidane.
The Bayern Munich winger has now been directly involved in six of France’s goals during Zidane’s first four matches, scoring four and providing two assists.
The victory leaves France top of Group A1 with 10 points, three ahead of Italy and four clear of Belgium. Italy also strengthened their position with a 3-1 victory over Turkey, while France will face Italy away and Turkey at home in their remaining group matches.
