Benin City is set for a thrilling football showdown on Tuesday as Okuta FC and Samco City FC battle for top honours in the grand finale of the 2nd Bright Osayi-Samuel U-13 Football Tournament.
The much-anticipated final match will take place at 3:00 PM at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, with Super Eagles and Fenerbahçe star Bright Osayi-Samuel, the tournament's chief sponsor and vision bearer—present to witness the match and present the gold trophy to the champions.
Before the final, a third-place clash between NAMO FA and Delight FA will kick off at 2:00 PM at the same venue.
The Edo Football Association, organizers of the tournament, confirmed that a grand reception has been arranged to welcome Osayi-Samuel back to his roots. The Edo-born footballer is being celebrated not only for his achievements on the international stage but also for giving back to his community through grassroots sports development.
Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has pledged full support for the event, praising the initiative as a major boost to youth football in the state.
According to Fred Newton Erhunmwunsee, Chairman of the Edo FA, the tournament finale doubles as a homecoming celebration for Bright Osayi-Samuel.
“This is not just the final of a football competition. It is a symbolic return of a football icon to his roots to inspire the next generation,” Erhunmwunsee told Nigerian Observer Sports.
The Edo FA has extended invitations to football stakeholders across the state, including clubs, coaches, players, and fans, to attend the grand finale and show support for grassroots football and a true son of the soil.
