Former Shooting Stars right-back Olatunbosun Oginni has opted to continue his football career in Benin Republic after signing a two-year contract with A.S.V.O. FC.
The defender, who recently ended a two-year spell with Dragon FC, completed the move after attracting interest from several clubs, including Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides Katsina United and Bendel Insurance.
Oginni joined Dragon FC after leaving Shooting Stars and quickly established himself as an important member of the Benin Republic outfit, making more than 60 appearances.
During his time with Dragon FC, the versatile full-back contributed five goals and 26 assists, underlining his attacking qualities from the right flank.
His impressive tally of 26 assists also played a key role in attracting interest from clubs in Nigeria and across the border before A.S.V.O. FC secured his services.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Oginni expressed his excitement about the next chapter of his career, saying A.S.V.O. FC’s history played a major role in his decision.
“I am very happy to join A.S.V.O. FC. I chose the club because of their history, and I am ready to put in my efforts for the progress of the club,” he said.
Oginni will now be expected to bring his experience and attacking qualities to A.S.V.O. FC as the club looks to achieve its ambitions in the new season.
The move represents another chapter in the defender’s developing career following his time with Shooting Stars and two productive seasons with Dragon FC.
