The newly appointed Evans Ogenyi has won his first match as the Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists FC as his team recorded a hard-fought comeback victory over Elkanemi Warriors in their 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 29 encounter.
The visitors took an early lead just two minutes into the game through Daddy Abdul Rahman, scoring from a curling kick that deceived Wikki goalkeeper Utum Godswill, momentarily putting the home side under pressure.
Wikki Tourists responded towards the end of the first half as Kkingshak Longbak restored parity in the 45+2 minute, finishing from a fine assist by John Taiwo to make it 1–1 at half-time.
The second half saw Wikki Tourists return with renewed energy, making tactical changes and piling pressure on Elkanemi Warriors.
The breakthrough came in the 52nd minute when Imamu Bala found the back of the net after a goalmouth tussle, following an assist from Abba Musa.
The goal proved decisive as Wikki Tourists held on to secure the 2–1 victory after three minutes of added time.
Speaking after the match, Technical Adviser Evans Ogenyi, in his first game in charge, described the win as heart-warming and praised his players for their determination.
“It’s not easy to come from behind to win a game, especially after conceding so early.
I take my hat off to the players for their resilience,” he said.
Coach Ogenyi also noted areas that require improvement as the team prepares for their next fixture against Shooting Stars next weekend.
