2026 NLO: Ogbomosho United Intensify Preparations Ahead of League Commencement

Posted : 12 March 2026

Sequel to the commencement of the 2026 campaign of the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), Ogbomosho United Football Club has announced plans to intensify its training programme and strengthen its squad through a competitive pre-season tournament.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday in Ogbomosho by the club’s General Manager, Adetunji Stephen, who emphasized the management’s commitment to ensuring the team enters the new season in peak competitive form.

According to the club management, the pre-season competition will feature several teams preparing for the upcoming NLO season, providing an opportunity for tactical refinement, squad evaluation, and improved match fitness ahead of the league kickoff.

Adetunji noted that the tournament forms a key part of the club’s technical and strategic build-up for the 2026 season.

“The initiative is designed to test the team against quality opposition while also helping the coaching crew identify areas that require improvement. This pre-season tournament is an important step in strengthening our squad and increasing the intensity of preparations for the upcoming NLO campaign,” the General Manager stated.

He further explained that management remains committed to building a competitive team capable of making a strong impact in the league, as full intensive support has been provided by the club’s Chairman, Basorun Akinwale Akinwole.

The pre-season tournament is scheduled to begin on March 15 and will take place at the historic Durban Stadium, Oyo, in the heart of the ancient Oyo town.

The competition is expected to feature clubs also gearing up for participation in the 2026 Nationwide League One season.

It is believed that the competition will offer teams an opportunity to sharpen tactics, assess new players, and build the chemistry required for a demanding league season.

The “Wolekanle Boys” will be under the technical guidance of Coach Jimoh Adua, whose side is expected to showcase strong tactical discipline and competitive spirit during the tournament.

This will also help the coaching staff evaluate squad depth and finalize player selections before the commencement of the league season.

The GM called for the support of the supporters and fans of Ogbomosho United Football Club and expressed optimism that the club’s early preparations will translate into a successful outing in the 2026 NLO season.

The team has continued to build a reputation as one of the promising football sides emerging from Oyo State.

With preparations now in full swing, expectations are high that the club will utilize the pre-season tournament to fine-tune strategies and build momentum ahead of the highly competitive league season.
