Bendel Insurance have placed their leadership responsibilities in the hands of goalkeeper Amas Obasogie and Kayode Oke, naming the duo captain and vice-captain, respectively, for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The appointments provide the Benin Arsenal with a clear leadership structure as they prepare for another demanding campaign, with both players expected to help drive the team’s ambitions on and off the pitch.
Obasogie, who has established himself between the posts, will wear the captain’s armband after being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the squad through the new season.
His position gives him a commanding view of the action, while his experience is expected to prove valuable in organising the team and maintaining composure during crucial moments.
Oke, meanwhile, will serve as the goalkeeper’s deputy, providing additional leadership and helping to foster unity, discipline and togetherness within the squad.
The decision comes at an important stage for Bendel Insurance as the club seeks to build a competitive team capable of achieving its objectives in the 2026/27 NPFL season.
For a club with a distinguished history in Nigerian football, the responsibility on the new leadership duo will extend beyond the captaincy armband.
Obasogie and Oke will be expected to set the tone in the dressing room, maintain the team’s focus and help translate the club’s ambitions into consistent performances when the season begins.
With the leadership structure now settled, attention will shift to the pitch as the Benin Arsenal continue preparations for the challenges ahead.
The club will be hoping the combination of Obasogie’s experience and Oke’s support can provide the stability and unity required for a successful campaign.
