A quickfire brace from Abayomi Abayomi in the 1st and 21st minutes secured all three points for the Harmony Boys in their Group A opener, leaving Enyimba struggling to find a response throughout the match. Enyimba's task became even harder as they were reduced to 10 men, further compounding their woes.
Reacting to the win, Kwara United U-19 Head Coach, Abdulkadir Jimoh, described the result as a morale booster but cautioned his players to stay grounded.
“We’re excited to start on a winning note, but we won’t get carried away. This is just the beginning, and we need to build on this momentum going into the next game,” Coach Jimoh said.
Kwara United will now turn their focus to their second group game against Kano Pillars, scheduled for tomorrow.
