The National Sports Commission (NSC) has launched a strong mobilisation effort for Nigerian supporters, both at home and abroad, ahead of Thursday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoff match between the Super Eagles and Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.
The NSC leadership, led by Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade, ensured that members of various Nigerian supporters clubs were logistically sponsored to Morocco. They also coordinated with the Nigerian community across North Africa to guarantee a strong turnout for the team.
Director General Olopade emphasized the importance of fan support throughout the match:
“We have one of the best supporters clubs in the world. Throughout the success story of the Super Eagles, the supporters club has always been the 12th player, from the days of the Green Eagles to the Super Eagles. Their presence at the stadium is crucial for the team’s success during this important playoff game.”
He added:
“We have also ensured sufficient logistical support for the Nigerian community in Morocco to turn out in large numbers on Thursday. This will make the stadium intimidating for the Gabonese because of our numerical strength.”
Interim Chairman of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba, praised the NSC for their dedication and collaboration:
“We must commend Dikko and Olopade because they truly understand the language of sports, making it easy for them to support us. They recognize the significance of a game of this magnitude, and with the support of all Nigerians, the Super Eagles will secure that World Cup ticket.”
