The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced that the 2026/27 season will kick off on Aug. 28, providing clubs and stakeholders with an early roadmap for the new campaign.
The league also released the timeline for the President Federation Cup, ensuring that domestic football activities are properly aligned throughout the season.
According to the calendar, the early release is designed to enable clubs, players, coaches, match officials, broadcasters, and other stakeholders to plan effectively for the campaign, including player recruitment, pre-season activities, travel arrangements, and other logistics.
In a move aimed at promoting consistency in the domestic league, the NPFL also unveiled a tentative calendar for the 2027/28 season. The following campaign is scheduled to run from Aug. 27–29, 2027, with the final round of matches expected to be played on May 28, 2028.
The advance publication of the calendars underscores the league's commitment to maintaining a structured, predictable, and professionally managed football schedule.
