The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strong warning to clubs ahead of the 2025/26 season, stating that home stadiums without floodlights and backup power supply will no longer be permitted to host NPFL matches.
In a memo addressed to all clubs, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi emphasized that only stadiums equipped with standard LED floodlights and reliable backup power will be approved for use in the upcoming season.
Owumi underlined the importance of proper infrastructure, noting that these requirements are vital for ensuring smooth and professional matchday operations—especially for evening fixtures or in the event of power outages.
The memo, which was also circulated to the NPFL board, management, and staff, reiterated that all clubs must have fully operational stadium facilities in place before the upcoming routine stadium inspections.
Clubs have been urged to immediately begin necessary upgrades and ensure full compliance, as the league will not grant exceptions once the 2025/26 season begins.
