Nigerian defender Tarabina Biweribo has completed a move from Plateau United to Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 23-year-old centre-back has signed a two-year contract with the Ugandan club.
Biweribo arrives at Vipers after establishing himself as a regular defender for Plateau United in the NPFL. He made 20 league appearances last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists, according to Vipers' official announcement.
The defender previously spent four seasons with Bayelsa United before moving to Plateau United in August 2025. His experience in the Nigerian top flight has now earned him an opportunity to continue his career outside the country.
Vipers head coach Denis Lavagne welcomed the signing and believes the Nigerian can continue his development in Uganda. The French coach said Biweribo will benefit from working alongside experienced centre-backs at the club.
Lavagne also described the new signing as a young player with experience at a high level. He expects the defender to develop further through regular training with the Vipers squad.
Biweribo is also looking forward to the new challenge. He expressed his happiness at joining Vipers and said he wants to help the club defend the Uganda Premier League title they won last season.
The move represents another step in the defender's development after his progress through the NPFL. His statistics from last season show an increased attacking contribution from defence, while his primary role remains at centre-back.
Vipers are preparing for a demanding campaign on several fronts. Alongside their domestic title defence, the Venoms will compete in the Uganda Cup and the CAF Champions League.
Biweribo will also link up with fellow Nigerian Odili Chukwuma at Vipers. Chukwuma made 24 appearances in all competitions for the club last season, giving Biweribo a familiar presence as he adapts to Ugandan football.
Vipers' decision to recruit the Nigerian defender adds competition to their backline. The club's official profile lists Biweribo as a 1.86-metre centre-back and highlights his aerial strength, versatility and physical qualities.
The transfer also gives Biweribo a chance to gain experience in continental football. With Vipers targeting domestic success and a strong CAF Champions League campaign, the Nigerian defender will be expected to settle quickly and compete for a starting role.
