The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is set to expand live television coverage of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL season with the introduction of Friday night fixtures from Matchday 8.
The move is expected to give football fans access to more live league matches while easing the logistical challenges associated with moving outside-broadcast equipment between venues across the country.
According to the league organisers, the decision followed a series of meetings with broadcast partners Murphy Ben International (MBI) and AfroSoccer on improving the quality and reach of NPFL coverage.
In a memo dated October 2, 2026, and addressed to club chairmen and general managers, the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Dr Ayo Abdulrahman, said the revised fixture arrangement would provide broadcast partners with access to more match days.
Abdulrahman explained that clubs would be grouped into regional clusters to reduce the distance and logistical burden involved in transporting large-scale production equipment to different venues.
He added that the new arrangement would accommodate Friday kick-offs, Friday night matches, early Saturday fixtures and Sunday games at selected venues.
The revised schedule will commence with Matchday 8, with three matches lined up for live coverage, including a Friday night fixture in Katsina and weekend games in Kano involving Ranchers Bees and Barau FC against visiting opponents.
The expansion also coincides with a major investment in production technology by MBI, which has acquired additional state-of-the-art equipment for its NPFL operations.
MBI Team Lead, Olatunji Ayodele, said the company had acquired Sony PXW-Z200 cameras as part of a compact digital production system designed for rapid deployment and flexible match coverage.
He also identified the OSEE GoStream Duet 8 ISO as another key component of the new setup, providing local switching, monitoring and recording capabilities.
According to Ayodele, the technology reduces the physical requirements traditionally associated with outside-broadcast production, eliminating the need to depend heavily on large OB trucks and extensive cabling.
“Instead of relying on a large OB truck and extensive cabling infrastructure, MBI can deploy a mobile, modular production system that can be transported and configured quickly at different NPFL venues.
“The result is a more nimble production model that combines professional camera acquisition, IP-based contribution, local production and resilient internet connectivity, allowing MBI to scale its coverage while responding efficiently to the demands of live football production,” Ayodele told NPFL Media.
The NPFL believes the combination of regional scheduling and improved broadcast technology will create a more efficient model for delivering live league football to supporters throughout the 2026/2027 season.
The return of Friday night broadcasts is expected to further widen access to NPFL action while allowing broadcast partners to manage production resources more efficiently across venues during the season.
