NPFL Reschedules Critical Ikorodu City Versus Wikki Tourists Clash Due to Federation Cup

The Nigeria Premier Football League has officially announced a date change for the Matchday 36 encounter between Ikorodu City and Wikki Tourists. Originally set for May 3, the game will now take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. This adjustment ensures the fixture does not clash with other local football commitments.

League officials confirmed the rescheduling was necessary because of the Lagos State Federation Cup final. That showpiece event is scheduled for the same venue on the original match date. Both events are hosted at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

The league body released a formal statement explaining the logistics of the move. It noted that the Federation Cup final takes precedence for the stadium use on that Sunday. Consequently, the professional league game must shift by 48 hours to accommodate the local cup calendar.

This fixture remains one of the most anticipated matches in the final stretch of the season. Ikorodu City are currently in the heat of a historic title race. They are pushing to secure their first-ever NPFL championship trophy.

On the other end of the spectrum, Wikki Tourists are desperate for points to maintain their top-flight status. The Bauchi-based club is currently battling to escape the relegation zone. Every point is vital for them as the season reaches its dramatic conclusion.
