The Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, will once again witness one of Nigeria’s fiercest football rivalries as seven-time league champions Rangers International FC storm Kano for a highly anticipated 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 4 clash against Kano Pillars FC.
The Sai Masu Gida, currently sitting 18th on the NPFL log with just one point, trail the Flying Antelopes by seven points. Rangers are 11th with four points after three games.
Kano Pillars are under pressure, having suffered two defeats and a draw so far, and will be desperate to change their fortunes in front of their home supporters.
Meanwhile, Rangers picked up their first win of the season in their last outing, following a draw and a loss, and will be eager to build momentum.
In a major boost for Kano Pillars, influential captain and club chairman Ahmed Musa has resumed training after recovering from a minor injury sustained during the Matchday 2 fixture against Wikki Tourists. The setback had ruled him out of last weekend’s 1-0 North West derby defeat to Katsina United.
The former Super Eagles skipper is now back in contention and could feature in Evans Ogenyi’s squad for their Matchday 4 encounter with Rangers at the Sani Abacha Stadium this weekend.
Pillars are still searching for their first victory of the campaign, having collected just one point from their opening three matches.
Head-to-head, their last 13 meetings have been evenly balanced, with both teams securing four wins each and five matches ending in draws.
