NPFL Matchday 38: Nervous Enyimba fans rally team ahead of crucial El-Kanemi clash

Anxiety has gripped supporters of Enyimba FC ahead of the club’s decisive 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 38 encounter against El-Kanemi Warriors in Aba, with many fans calling on the players to secure victory and avoid relegation danger.

The nine-time Nigerian champions currently sit 14th on the league table with 46 points from 37 matches, level on points with 17th-placed Warri Wolves, leaving their top-flight status hanging in the balance heading into the final game of the season.

Several supporters who spoke ahead of the tie expressed disappointment with the club’s inconsistent performances this campaign, insisting that only a win would ease the frustrations of the fans.

One of the supporters, Emmanuel Ibekwe, said Enyimba must rise to the occasion and protect their NPFL status with a convincing performance at home.

According to him, the club has fallen below expectations this season, but ending the campaign with victory would at least restore some pride among the supporters.

Another fan, Arinze Amobi, urged the management to begin preparations for next season immediately by strengthening the squad with quality players.

He maintained that Enyimba remain capable of defeating El-Kanemi Warriors comfortably, stressing that relegation would be disastrous for a club of such pedigree.

Also speaking, Miss Ebere Okonkwo lamented the team’s poor home performances this season, admitting that many supporters have gradually lost confidence in the team.

She, however, warned against underrating El-Kanemi Warriors, noting that Enyimba must show determination and character to avoid slipping into the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The crucial encounter in Aba is expected to attract massive attention as the Peoples Elephant seek to end a disappointing season on a positive note and secure their place in the NPFL for another campaign.

The outcome of this final fixture will ultimately determine Enyimba's future in Nigeria's elite football division. Fans remain hopeful that the players will deliver the necessary performance to avoid a historic drop to the lower tier.
