Ikorodu City FC will look to continue their impressive start to the season when they face El-Kanemi Warriors in a 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 2 clash at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos.
The Oga Boys kicked off their campaign with a valuable away draw against Kwara United, the 2025 President Federation Cup winners, in Ilorin. Despite fielding nine NPFL debutants and a total of 12 new signings, Ikorodu City held their ground in a goalless affair, securing their first away point of the season.
El-Kanemi Warriors, on the other hand, enter the tie with confidence after edging past Bendel Insurance FC 1–0 in their opening fixture.

Historic First Live Broadcast
Adding to the excitement, this fixture will be the first live televised NPFL match under the new partnership with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Fans can tune in on DSTV from 4pm on Sunday to watch the action unfold.
The broadcast deal comes after the collapse of the NPFL’s five-year, ₦6 billion contract with StarTimes, which was dissolved after only two seasons due to poor patronage and unsustainable production costs.
NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye confirmed that the NTA partnership will allow nationwide coverage of league matches. During discussions with NTA Director General Rotimi Pedro, the broadcaster pledged support for Nigerian football, linking the collaboration to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of expanding Nigeria’s economy, with football development playing a crucial role.
Elegbeleye also revealed that talks are ongoing with additional partners, including AfroSports, to broaden coverage. Until then, fans will enjoy the historic first step as Onikan Stadium hosts a landmark fixture between Ikorodu City and El-Kanemi Warriors.
