2025/2026 NPFL Matchday 2 Preview: Enyimba’s Husseni Rallies Fans Ahead of Tornadoes Showdown

Posted : 30 August 2025

Enyimba International FC’s new defensive powerhouse, Mohammed Husseni, has issued a rallying call to fans ahead of the People’s Elephant’s NPFL Matchday 2 clash against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday in Aba.

The towering centre-back, who recently joined from the Tornadoes, has quickly settled into life at Enyimba. Speaking after the team’s final preparations, Husseni urged the supporters to fill the Enyimba International Stadium and push the nine-time champions to victory.

“All we want is for the fans to come out in numbers and support us,” Husseni told Enyimba Media.
“Myself and my colleagues, old and new, are ready for maximum points on Sunday. We’re going all in for victory.”

For Enyimba, the fixture carries weight. After battling to a draw against Kano Pillars on opening day, Coach Stanley Eguma has prepared his side for nothing less than three points at home. The squad is at full strength, except for Mujeed Odufeso, who remains suspended after his red card against Barau FC.

Adding extra spice to the encounter is Husseni’s personal storyline. Once a defensive mainstay at Niger Tornadoes, he now stands in Enyimba colours, ready to lock horns with his former teammates.

The rivalry between the two sides has produced a rich history. In 19 meetings since 2009, Enyimba have secured 9 wins, Tornadoes have claimed 6 victories, while 4 matches ended in draws.

With the “Aba cauldron” expected to be in full voice—drums beating, chants echoing, and a sea of blue filling the stands—Husseni believes the People’s Elephant can overpower the Ikon Allah Boys and make a bold statement in their bid to reclaim NPFL glory.

Match Details:

  • Kick-off: Sunday, 4:00 PM
  • Venue: Enyimba International Stadium, Aba
  • Tickets: VIP – ₦1,000; Popular Side – ₦500

For Enyimba, Sunday is not just another game—it’s a chance to stamp their authority early in the season. And for Husseni, it’s the perfect stage to prove he is the new Wall of Aba.
