Hatrick hero, Ubong emerges NPFL Match Day 30 players of the week after Niger Tornadoes FC's demolition

NPFL Player of the Week Ubong Friday's goal rush gives troubled Akwa United hope of staying afloat amidst the dangers of relegation after a 4-1 demolition of visiting Niger Tornadoes in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 30.


Ubong hit the target thrice for hosts Akwa United to overcome the on-form Niger Tornadoes 4-1.


His goals and experience will go a long way in ensuring that "The Promise Keepers" navigate their way out of the dreaded drop zone.


Ubong Friday is the sixth player in the NPFL to record a hat-trick thus far.


The five other hat-trick heroes thus far are Nenrot Silas, Albert Hilary (Plateau United), Nyima Nwagua (Rivers United), Robert Mizo (Bayelsa United), and Yusuf Abdullahi (Kano Pillars).


He has now taken his tally for the season to six goals and is closing in on a 50-goal career milestone.


Akwa United remain in 18th position in the standings with 36 points.


They are now just a point away from safety with a game in hand and eight rounds of matches remaining in the season.
