NPFL Breaks into World's Top 100 Football Leagues

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has earned a place among the world's top 100 football leagues after being ranked 82nd in the latest global league rankings.

The ranking also places the NPFL among Africa's leading domestic competitions, underlining the steady progress of Nigeria's top-flight league in recent years.

The English Premier League retained its position as the world's highest-rated football league, ahead of Spain's La Liga, Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A, and France's Ligue 1, which completed the top five.

On the African continent, Morocco's Botola Pro emerged as the highest-ranked league, occupying 40th place globally.

Algeria's Ligue 1 followed in 43rd position, while Egypt's Premier League was ranked 47th. South Africa's Premier Soccer League placed 62nd before the NPFL in 82nd.

The Nigerian league finished just ahead of Ghana's Premier League, which was ranked 83rd, while Senegal's Ligue 1 occupied 87th place and Zambia's Super League came in 95th.

The latest ranking is seen as another positive indicator of the NPFL's growing reputation, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve the quality of competition, league organisation, officiating, and overall professional standards.

The recognition is expected to further boost the league's profile as administrators continue initiatives aimed at attracting greater investment, improving club structures, and enhancing the competitiveness of Nigerian football on the continental and global stage.

The latest achievement highlights the progress made by the NPFL in recent years and reinforces confidence in the league's continued development. It also provides further encouragement for stakeholders seeking to strengthen the standard and global appeal of Nigerian domestic football.
