Wikki Tourists Edge Abia Warriors to Stay Unbeaten in NPFL Season

Wikki Tourists continued their impressive start to life back in Nigeria’s top flight with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Abia Warriors in Bauchi. The victory keeps the Baby Elephants level on points with league leaders Remo Stars after Match Day 3 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

 

The decisive moment came in the 77th minute when Jonathan Mairiga found the back of the net to secure maximum points for the hosts. The result consolidates Wikki Tourists’ position near the summit of the NPFL table with seven points from three matches, the same tally as Remo Stars.

 

The Bauchi side has now gone three games unbeaten since returning to the NPFL. They opened their campaign with a 1-0 home win against Plateau United before battling to a 1-1 draw with Kano Pillars on the road. The latest triumph against Abia Warriors, one of Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, further underlines their strong start.

 

Head coach Abdul Makaiba praised his team’s commitment and resilience, stressing that consistency will be key moving forward.

 

“We really played better today, and I promise the team will keep improving with more games ahead,” he said after the match.

 

With momentum firmly on their side, the Baby Elephants look set to mount a serious challenge in the league as they continue their unbeaten run.
