NPFL Match Day 3 Preview: Abia Warriors Aim to Bounce Back Against Wikki Tourists

Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia are set to continue their 2025/2026 NPFL campaign with a crucial away clash against Wikki Tourists FC in Bauchi. The Warriors will be aiming to recover from a narrow 1-0 loss to Nasarawa United in Lafia as they look to make amends in their second consecutive away fixture of the season.

 

The Imama Amapakabo-coached side have shown resilience in past back-to-back away matches, managing to avoid defeats last season under similar circumstances. Team captain Augustine Njoku emphasized that the squad has worked hard to correct the shortcomings observed in previous games, a factor he believes will improve their chances of securing a positive result against the Bauchi-based outfit.

 

Coach Amapakabo expressed confidence in his attacking unit, noting that his forwards have focused on refining their techniques and finishing during training sessions. “We are optimistic that our strikers will deliver when it matters most,” he said ahead of Sunday’s fixture.

 

Currently, Abia Warriors sit 11th on the league table with three points from two matches, while Wikki Tourists, returning to Nigeria’s top flight, occupy sixth place with four points after the same number of games. Both teams will be eager to gain valuable points as the season progresses, making this encounter a competitive one.
