Norwich City Track American-Nigerian Defender George Bello Ahead Of Summer Window

English Championship side Norwich City are closely monitoring versatile defender George Bello ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The 24-year-old left-back has emerged as a key target for the Canaries as they plan to overhaul their squad. The club wants to build a roster capable of securing automatic promotion to the English Premier League next season.

Norwich City officials view Bello as an ideal solution to reinforce their left-back position. Defensive injuries severely disrupted the team during the previous campaign; primary full-backs Ben Chrisene and Lucien Mahovo both endured extended spells on the sidelines. The Abuja-born defender is seen as a durable option to provide much-needed stability to the backline.

Bello is currently entering the final year of his contract with Austrian Bundesliga club LASK. The Austrian side still retains an automatic option to extend his stay beyond next summer. This contractual situation means British suitors must negotiate a formal transfer fee to secure his services before the market closes.

The defender enjoyed a highly successful campaign with LASK; he helped the club win the Austrian Cup. Bello scored a crucial goal in the final against SCR Altach. He celebrated the cup victory alongside fellow players of Nigerian descent Moses Usor and Samuel Adeniran.

Born in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, Bello is no longer eligible to play for the Super Eagles. The defender is fully cap-tied to the United States after making seven senior appearances for the national team. Five of those international outings came in high-stakes, competitive tournament fixtures.

Bello developed his skills at the Southern Soccer Academy and Alpharetta Ambush before joining Atlanta United in 2016. He possesses valuable top-flight experience across both Major League Soccer and the German Bundesliga. The defender has amassed 60 combined appearances across those two prestigious divisions during his career.
