Norwegian-Nigerian Winger Obilor Okeke Completes Move From Hammarby to Brommapojkarna

Posted : 19 March 2026

Okeke's move to Brommapojkarna has been confirmed by both clubs, with Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg stating it represented a good outcome for all parties: "The time at Hammarby did not go as either we or 'Obi' had hoped. The competition for our wide positions is fierce, and with this transfer, 'Obi' gets a clearer role at his new club."

Hammarby originally signed Okeke from Norwegian club KFUM Oslo last summer; according to Expressen, Brommapojkarna paid around 5.5 million Swedish kronor to secure the deal, while Hammarby had initially brought him in for approximately 4 million kronor.

The forward carries impressive sporting heritage. His father, Aham Okeke, is a Nigerian-born former Norwegian sprinter who won the national 100 metres title six times, set the national record on five occasions, and clocked a personal best of 10.26 seconds. Obilor was born in Oslo and developed through the youth ranks at Bærumsløkka, Oppsal, Stabæk, and Vålerenga before going on to represent Skeid, Asker, Fredrikstad, and KFUM Oslo at senior level.

During his time at Hammarby, Okeke made nine Allsvenskan appearances and contributed one assist; he also featured twice in the Svenska Cupen, starting both games. His path at Hammarby was blocked after the club brought in Victor Lind and Oliver Jordan Hagen to compete for wide positions, making a departure the most logical step. Norwegian side SK Brann had also registered interest, but Brommapojkarna secured the signing.

Speaking after signing, Okeke described himself as a quick, technically capable player with a strong desire to win: "I expect to win; I am a player who loves winning. I will do everything to help my team take three points." Brommapojkarna sporting director Sean Sabetkar welcomed the addition, noting that Okeke brings the right combination of age, personality, and quality to match the club's short and long-term project.

Okeke is managed by Norwegian-Nigerian agent Atta Aneke, who also represents Super Eagles internationals Igoh Ogbu, Akor Adams, and Chidera Ejuke.
