2024/2025 NNL Super 8: Warri Wolves Ready for Crown FC Showdown – Coach Aluma

Posted : 09 July 2025

Asaba, Nigeria — Head coach of Warri Wolves, Napoleon Aluma, has voiced his confidence ahead of his team’s crucial Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoff match against Crown FC, scheduled for Thursday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Speaking after the team’s final training session, Aluma said the players are fully prepared for the challenge, noting the significance of the game in their bid to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

“Crown FC are a good side—you can see that from their previous matches. But we are highly motivated and understand what is at stake,” Aluma said. “This isn’t the first time we’ve found ourselves in such a position, and I believe we’ll get the job done tomorrow.”

Aluma also acknowledged the absence of experienced player Efe Yarhere due to suspension but maintained faith in the squad’s depth and readiness.

“It’s unfortunate that Efe will miss the match. His experience is vital, but the rest of the team is ready. We are prepared for every situation, and that will be evident in our performance.”

He further extended appreciation to the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission for his unwavering support to the team.

“I applaud the chairman of the DSSC for his encouragement and belief in the team. We've never had this level of support before. He has created an enabling environment for us to thrive, and we hope to reward him with a place in the NPFL.”

With one game remaining, the Southern Conference standings remain tightly contested. Osun United currently lead with four points, followed by Warri Wolves in second, ahead of Kun Khalifat on goal difference. Crown FC sit bottom with one point from two games.

A win for the Seasiders against Crown FC would secure their promotion to the NPFL for the 2025–2026 season.

In the other Southern Conference game, Osun United will take on Kun Khalifat at the Delta State University of Science and Technology Stadium in Ozoro at 11:30 a.m. Both fixtures will be played simultaneously to ensure fairness.

Following heavy rain that rendered the pitch at Jay Jay Okocha Stadium unplayable, the NNL organisers have relocated Thursday’s Conference A and Conference B matches to the Ozoro Stadium. NNL Chairman George Aluo confirmed the venue change after inspecting the facility.

The final games in both conferences—Barau FC vs. Doma United, and Osun United vs. Kun Khalifat—will kick off at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Meanwhile, the Stephen Keshi Stadium will still host the Northern Conference showdown between Wikki Tourists and Yobe Desert Stars, as well as the Warri Wolves vs. Crown FC tie.

The top two teams from each conference will secure automatic promotion to the NPFL. Conference winners will face off on Saturday to determine the overall champion of the 2024/2025 NNL season.
