At a gathering held at the Osogbo Township Stadium, key stakeholders—including Osun State Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi—met with the team’s management, technical crew, players, and supporters to express solidarity and commitment.
Deputy Governor Adewusi assured the team of improved welfare packages and pledged to eliminate any administrative delays affecting players' allowances and bonuses.
In a morale-boosting gesture, Governor Ademola Adeleke joined the meeting via a phone call to congratulate the team on qualifying for the NNL Super 8.
“You’ve made the state proud. Now go to Asaba and fight for that Premier League spot. We believe in you,” the governor said.
The governor’s message sparked enthusiasm among the players and fans, boosting confidence ahead of the high-stakes playoffs.
Chairman of the Osun State House Committee on Sports, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, also pledged full legislative support for sports development in the state. He confirmed that he will travel to Asaba to personally cheer Osun United during the tournament.
Team captain Mojeed and the Supporters’ Club praised the government’s intervention, promising to deliver top performances in Asaba.
Club chairman, Gbenga Ololade Oriowo, expressed appreciation to the state leadership, noting that the backing has strengthened the team’s resolve.
“This timely support is a huge morale boost. We’re now more determined than ever to make Osun proud,” Oriowo said.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking figures, including the Senior Special Assistant on Football Matters, Hon. Kehinde Johnson, as well as officials from the Osun State Ministry of Sports and the State Sports Council.
With a unified front from government and fans alike, Osun United will head to Asaba with renewed focus. The NNL Super 8 playoff is scheduled to run from July 5 to 12, with promotion to the NPFL at stake for participating clubs.
