NNL stakeholders call on management to announce venues for final day fixtures

Ahead of the much anticipated final matchday fixtures of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, there is growing tension and apprehension amongst stakeholders regarding the logic the league board will put in place to forestall match fixing, scheming, and unsportsmanlike drama that usually pervade Nigerian football.


With the accolades given to the present board of the nation's second-tier league under the leadership of George Aluo, who secured sponsorship and increased league visibility, there has been much improved officiating and quick dispensation of justice against erring officials. Additionally, stakeholders have demanded that the league helmsman announce the other match venues ahead of time to forestall unimaginable consequences.


A critical look at Conference B reveals that three teams from the same group, all domiciled in Lagos State, use Onikan Stadium. It remains to be seen how the league board will tackle this issue or announce other match venues for other fixtures to run simultaneously and avoid match fixing.


In view of the foregoing, the league still has enough time to announce other match venues to ensure a successful end to the 2023/2024 league season, particularly as stakeholders look forward to ending it in style.
