Organizers of Nigeria’s second-tier football league, the Nigeria National League (NNL), in partnership with the National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA), are set to hold a mid-season retreat for clubs participating in the ongoing campaign.
The Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Danlami Alanana, confirmed that the retreat will take place from January 23 to 25 at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State. The event will bring together all 36 clubs across Conferences A to D, providing an opportunity to review the league’s progress after the first round of matches.
Alanana explained that the retreat is designed as a capacity-building forum aimed at strengthening the league’s structure, administration, and overall delivery. “With the accolades we are receiving and the growing corporate support, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. That is why we are heading to the boardroom for a mid-season retreat,” he said.
The retreat will offer stakeholders a holistic review of the league’s journey so far, identifying areas that require improvement to enhance professionalism and competitiveness. Renowned football administrators and experts will be on hand to engage club managers on best practices, while corporate partners supporting the league are expected to participate fully.
Alanana described the gathering as a unique opportunity for unity, interaction, and collaborative decision-making within the league structure. “It will be a gathering of one big family, where ideas will be shared and collective decisions taken in the best interest of the league,” he added.
The mid-season retreat is expected to reinforce the NNL’s commitment to sustainable growth, improved administration, and greater commercial appeal as the season progresses.
