NNL 2026/27: Heartland, Crown to Headline Oct. 31 Season Opener

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has fixed Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, for the commencement of the 2026/2027 season, with Heartland FC of Owerri and Crown FC of Ogbomoso set to provide the opening-day attraction.

The announcement followed resolutions reached at the league’s Annual General Meeting, with the remaining clubs scheduled to begin their campaigns on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, across designated venues nationwide.

The new season will feature 34 clubs grouped into four conferences, with Conferences A and B comprising nine teams each, while Conferences C and D have eight teams apiece.

Heartland and Crown will set the pace in the season’s opening fixture before the rest of the teams enter the competition the following weekend.

Solution FC of Anambra will compete in Conference B, where the club will face a competitive line-up that includes Beyond Limits of Ogun, Akwa United of Uyo, Smart City FC of Lagos, Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi, Right-2-Win FC of Abia, Dokkar Khairu FC of Osun, Ekiti United and Bayelsa United of Yenagoa.

Conference A will feature Remo Stars, Edel FC, God’swill Akpabio FC, Eko United, Stormers Sporting Club, Heartland FC, Crown FC, Sunshine Stars and OYC FC.

Conference C comprises El-Kanemi Warriors, DMD FC, FC Basira, Neurosparks FC, Kebbi United, Adamawa United, Jigawa Golden Stars and Damburam FC.

The teams in Conference D are Yobe Desert Stars, Wikki Tourists, Lobi Stars, ABS FC, Sokoto United, Bichi FC, Kada Warriors and Mighty Jets Feeders/Bida Lions.

With the new campaign set to commence in October, clubs are expected to intensify preparations as they target promotion, improved league standings and a strong start to the 2026/2027 season.

For Solution FC, the placement in Conference B presents a fresh challenge, with the Anambra-based side expected to battle some of the established names in the group for supremacy when the league gets underway.
