The Nationwide League One (NLO) has launched an investigation into the dramatic Match Week 7 encounter between Mc Steve FC and Beautiful Tours FC after the game ended in an astonishing 10-3 scoreline at the Area 3 Sports Complex in Abuja.
In a swift response following Thursday’s fixture, the league directed both clubs to explain the circumstances surrounding the result amid concerns over the integrity of the match.
Mc Steve FC recorded their biggest win and highest goal tally of the 2026 campaign, while Beautiful Tours FC suffered their heaviest defeat of the season after conceding 10 goals in a single game.
NLO Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Olusola Ogunnowo, in a letter addressed to both teams, instructed them to show cause on or before Monday, May 18, why the result should not be cancelled.
According to the letter, the league received reports questioning the credibility of the encounter despite the game being officiated by center referee Mansoor Danjuma, who has earned positive reviews for his performances at the FCT Centre this season.
“It has come to our attention that there are concerns regarding the integrity of the match, and we request that both clubs present their case to demonstrate why the outcome should not be deemed a compromised match,” part of the letter stated.
The development has sparked discussions within the league, especially considering the previous performances of both sides before the high-scoring encounter.
Prior to the match, Beautiful Tours FC had managed just one point from five games, recording defeats against Bussdor FC, Legacy Stars, AA FC, and Anglican FC, while also conceding multiple goals in several of those matches.
Mc Steve FC, on the other hand, had endured a mixed campaign with only one win from six previous outings before their explosive attacking display against Beautiful Tours.
The NLO is expected to review submissions from both clubs before taking a final decision on the matter.
This investigation underscores the league's commitment to maintaining fair play and transparency across all its fixtures. The final ruling will be crucial in upholding the competitive standards of the Nationwide League One as the season progresses.
