The 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) Cup will now commence on Oct. 17 following a postponement announced by the competition’s organisers.
The Nationwide League One secretariat said the adjustment was necessary to allow additional time for logistical arrangements, maintenance works at designated venues and the completion of registration by participating clubs.
In a revised notification to the clubs, the secretariat explained that the decision was taken in the overall interest of the competition.
It also assured participating teams that the official fixtures would be released no later than Tuesday to enable them to plan effectively for their respective matches.
The organisers acknowledged that the change could affect clubs’ travel arrangements, logistics and technical preparations but maintained that the extension would help ensure a smooth and successful tournament.
The secretariat urged all participating clubs to remain cooperative and sustain their preparations ahead of the revised commencement date.
The NLO Cup provides a competitive platform for participating clubs and emerging football talents while supporting grassroots football development across Nigeria.
