The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the global tournament for the second consecutive time. However, Nigerian representation will still endure at the prestigious world event. Veteran multimedia journalist Hilary Damissah successfully made the final selection quota. He will serve as an official member of the massive FIFA World Cup 2026 Volunteers Community.
Damissah brought over 25 years of extensive professional media and public relations experience to his application. He successfully navigated a rigorous FIFA screening process that featured deep background checks and intense online assessments. The chosen global team will consist of over 60,000 volunteers working critical shifts across 23 different functional areas. These specific roles cover essential media operations, hospitality logistics, and general guest services.
The seasoned communication expert is assigned to the iconic NRG Stadium located in Houston, Texas. The massive 72,000-capacity venue will host seven tournament matches, including five group stage games. It will also host a round of 32 clash and a round of 16 fixture. Interestingly, DR Congo will play one of their highly anticipated group games at this exact Houston location.
The Central African side notably served as Nigeria's qualifying nemesis during the final CAF preliminary rounds. Other prominent international teams slated to play at the stadium include Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Cape Verde will also represent Africa there alongside Asian contenders Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Damissah previously coordinated major global corporate events across Ghana, South Africa, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
