Nigeria’s 36 States and FCT Confirm Teams for 2026 President Federation Cup

The Nigeria Football Federation has received a full list of participating clubs from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for the upcoming President Federation Cup. This annual tournament remains Nigeria’s most prestigious domestic knockout competition. It offers a platform for both elite professional clubs and grassroots academies to compete for national honors.

In the women’s category, the competition features several heavyweights from the Nigeria Women Football League. Bayelsa State will be represented by powerhouse Bayelsa Queens and Bayelsa Princesses. Edo State has submitted the names of Edo Queens and Fortress Ladies for the tournament. Rivers State will see Rivers Angels and Osklean FC compete for the title.

Other top-tier women's teams such as Nasarawa Amazons, Sunshine Queens, and FC Robo Queens are also confirmed. The FCT has entered Naija Ratels and NAF FC into the female draw. Participation remains high across the federation with Lagos and Oyo states also submitting multiple entries. These teams will look to challenge the traditional dominance of the top seeds.

The men’s draw is heavily populated by clubs from the Nigeria Premier Football League. Continental regulars Enyimba FC and Rangers International are among the headline entries confirmed by their respective states. Defending champions Bendel Insurance and Port Harcourt based Rivers United have also secured their spots. Other major contenders include Plateau United, Akwa United, and Kano Pillars’ representatives, Barau FC.

Beyond the top flight, the tournament continues to highlight grassroots talent and developmental squads. Lobi Stars and Kwara United have finalized their participation for the new season. Interestingly, some states have opted to field academy and feeder teams. For example, Sunshine Stars will be represented by their U19 side, while the FCT has entered Sporting Supreme FC’s youth team.

The competition serves as a crucial pathway for clubs to earn a spot in continental competitions. Winning the President Federation Cup often provides a direct route to the CAF Confederation Cup. Fans are anticipating a highly competitive tournament given the quality of the confirmed teams. The organizing committee is expected to announce the full fixture list and dates for the national rounds shortly.
