Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped one place in the September edition of the FIFA World Football Ranking, dropping to 45th in the world.
According to the FIFA website, Nigeria earned 1,483 points in the latest update, compared to 1,484 points in the previous ranking released in July.
During the review period, the Super Eagles drew one match (against South Africa), won two (Nigeria 1–0 Rwanda and Nigeria 2–0 Congo), but lost two (Sudan 4–0 Nigeria and Senegal 1–0 Nigeria).
On the African continent, Nigeria ranks 6th, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Globally, Spain dethroned Argentina—who had held the top spot since April 2023—to become world No. 1 for the first time since 2014.
The biggest mover was Slovakia, who climbed 10 places to reach 42nd.
In total, more than 200 international matches were played worldwide since the last FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking update, significantly reshaping the standings.
