Nigeria Amputee Football Federation to celebrate Valentine’s Day with Second Edition of ``Kick For Love''

Posted : 15 February 2024

Under the leadership of Chief Paul Maduaku, the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation is set to celebrate Valentine’s Day uniquely with the second edition of Kick for Love.

The initiative, which began last year with the inaugural edition, aims to spread love and camaraderie through the sport of amputee football.

According to President Paul Maduaku, love is something that should be shared with others, and Kick for Love provides an ideal platform for this expression.

“Love is something that we must share with other people. We at the Amputee Football Federation started it last year and we believe that we need to make it bigger this year, knowing fully well that this year is full of activity for us,

"Knowing that in April we’ll be going for the Nations Cup and that Nations Cup also stands as our chance of picking qualification for the World Cup.

Maduaku emphasized the significance of this year’s event, particularly in light of the federation’s upcoming activities.

With the Nations Cup scheduled for April, where Nigeria’s amputee football team will vie for qualification to the World Cup, and the country’s women’s team set to compete in the first Women’s World Cup in October, Kick for Love serves as a valuable opportunity for team preparation.

The second edition of Kick for Love will not only serve as a celebration of Valentine’s Day but also as a crucial part of the team’s preparation for upcoming tournaments.

The event will enable the technical team to assess players and finalize selections for the Nations Cup.

This year’s edition will feature seven teams from Lagos, Plateau, Kaduna, Kano, Imo, Niger, and Kwara.

As the amputee football community comes together for Kick for Love, the federation aims to draw inspiration from the successes of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, and continue to learn and improve in their endeavors.
