Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Daddy Julu has received a major international boost after earning a call-up to Liberia’s senior national team for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Cape Verde.
The invitation follows an impressive run of performances by the shot-stopper in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where his consistency has strengthened Niger Tornadoes’ defensive resilience.
Julu recorded three clean sheets in four matches during October, conceding just once to underline his growing influence between the posts for the Ikon Allah Boys.
His performances have now earned him an opportunity to represent Liberia in the double-header against Cape Verde, with the first leg scheduled for November 17 in Monrovia and the return encounter on November 23 in Praia.
The national team invitation was conveyed through an official communication from the Liberia Football Association.
Julu’s selection represents a recognition of his progress at club level, where his composure, confidence and shot-stopping abilities have made him an important figure in Niger Tornadoes' campaign.
Reacting to the development, the management of Niger Tornadoes congratulated the goalkeeper on his international recognition, describing the invitation as a reward for his commitment, dedication and impressive performances.
The club also wished Julu and the Lone Star success in their forthcoming AFCON qualifying assignments.
