Niger Tornadoes will look to revive their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign when they host Kano Pillars in a keenly anticipated Matchday 30 Northern derby at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.
The Ikon Allah Boys head into the fixture under pressure following a string of disappointing results, but the club’s management has stepped in with fresh motivation ahead of the crucial clash.
Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Danjuma Abdul Masu, visited the team during a training session in Minna to rally support and challenge the players to rediscover their winning form.
During the visit, Masu expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s recent performances, noting that the current results do not reflect the quality expected from a club that enjoys strong backing from the people of Niger State.
He urged the players and technical crew to take responsibility and fight to restore the confidence of their supporters.
Masu also reminded the squad of the deep emotional bond between the club and football fans across the state, stressing that the team must work harder to bring back smiles to the faces of their followers.
As an added incentive ahead of the derby encounter, the sports commission boss announced a cash reward of ₦1 million for the players if they defeat Kano Pillars.
The promise of the financial bonus is expected to provide extra motivation as Niger Tornadoes prepare to face the Sai Masu Gida in what promises to be a fiercely contested Northern showdown.
