Niger Tornadoes conduct ECG tests ahead of new NPFL season

Niger Tornadoes have conducted Electrocardiogram tests on their players as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The medical exercise is part of the club's preparations for the new campaign and is aimed at assessing the cardiac health of the squad.

The ECG screening checks the electrical activity of the heart and forms part of the medical assessment required for professional players. Niger Tornadoes said the exercise will help ensure their players are medically fit ahead of the new season.

The club's medical preparations are also consistent with NPFL requirements. League regulations require clubs to conduct medical examinations on contracted players and maintain records that can be inspected by authorised NPFL representatives.

The Ikon Allah Boys are continuing their pre-season preparations as they get ready for another top-flight campaign. The club will begin the new NPFL season at home against Enyimba at the Bako Kontagora Stadium on August 30.

The fixture gives Niger Tornadoes an immediate test against one of Nigeria's most established clubs. Enyimba will also be looking to begin the campaign strongly, making the opening-day encounter an important early test for the Minna-based side.

Niger Tornadoes are among the 20 clubs listed for the 2026/27 NPFL season. The league has maintained its August-to-May calendar, with the new campaign scheduled to run into May 2027.

The club's medical work comes after a demanding previous campaign. Niger Tornadoes finished 15th in the 2025/26 standings, collecting 48 points from 38 matches, according to the latest reports on their preparations.

The new season therefore presents an opportunity for the team to improve its league position. The technical staff will hope that a full pre-season programme, combined with proper medical clearance, provides the foundation for a stronger campaign.

Niger Tornadoes will now turn their attention to completing preparations for the opening fixture. The ECG tests represent another step towards ensuring the squad meets the necessary medical requirements before the league gets underway.
