NFF Resumes Premium CAF A-License Coaching Course in Abuja Following Nine Year Absence

The Nigeria Football Federation has officially announced the return of the premium CAF A-License coaching course to the country. The technical program is scheduled to commence on August 2 in Abuja and will span seven months across six distinct specialized modules. This historic development follows Nigeria’s recent formal readmission into the Confederation of African Football elite coaching convention after a nine year absence.

NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi revealed the strategic development during the opening phase of a ongoing six day CAF B-License refresher course. Sanusi explained that the initiative forms part of a broader capacity building strategy designed by the current board to revolutionize domestic football standards. The federation is implementing strict technical benchmarks to ensure only elite personnel manage domestic club sides.

The football governing body has maintained an incredibly strict selection process for the upcoming continental program. Out of fifty active tactical participants currently undergoing the mandatory refresher course in the capital city; only twenty five candidates will secure admission. Prominent elite managers like Fidelis Ilechukwu, Kennedy Boboye, Ladan Bosso, and Imama Amapakabo are currently battling for the limited available slots.

The federation confirmed that local coaches will pay three million Naira; while foreign tactical applicants must remit three thousand dollars to participate. Eligible candidates must remain computer literate and possess active coaching profiles within the NPFL or national team cadres. The grueling assessment parameters are specifically designed to test modern game analysis; digital presentation skills; and written literacy.

NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen expressed profound satisfaction with the long awaited return of the advanced licensing convention. Eguavoen noted that investing heavily in trainer education remains the most sustainable pathway to improve domestic player performance. The federation additionally confirmed plans to introduce a specialized sports management diploma in direct partnership with the National Institute for Sports.

The administrative body is equally executing parallel structural upgrades across the national refereeing ecosystem. President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has approved the immediate deployment of modern Video Assistant Referee training hardware into the country. The specialized technological kits are being routed through the WAFU Zone B headquarters to fast-track regional referee development before the next football season.
