The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Committee has released the official schedule for the Pre-Season Programmes for referees officiating in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nationwide League One (NLO), and Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) categories.
According to a circular signed by Nasiru Ibrahim, for the Head of Referees Development Unit, assessors from the Southern States are to arrive on October 19 for registration, hold their seminar on October 20, and depart on October 21.
Active referees from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Lagos, and Ondo States are expected to arrive on October 21 for medicals and fitness tests scheduled for October 22. Their seminar sessions will take place on October 23 and 24, with departure on October 25.
Group B States in the South — comprising Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers, and Kwara — will report for medicals on October 25, undergo fitness tests on October 26, and participate in seminars on October 27 and 28, before concluding activities.
The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, has been designated as the venue for all Southern programmes. The circular also notes that all eligible female referees from the South are to join Group A for their sessions.
In the Northern Zone, referees and assessors are expected to converge in Zaria, Kaduna State. Assessors will report on October 26, hold their seminar on October 27, and depart the following day.
Active referees from Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Taraba, and Zamfara States (Group A) will undergo medicals on October 28, fitness tests on October 29, and seminars on October 30 and 31.
Group B referees from Bauchi, Benue, FCT, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, and Sokoto will have their medicals on November 1, fitness tests on November 2, and seminars on November 3 and 4, with departure set for November 5.
Additionally, female referees from the Northern Zone will join Group A for the programme.
The pre-season initiative aims to ensure all match officials are medically fit, technically prepared, and aligned with new refereeing standards ahead of the 2025/2026 football season.
