NFF moves Super Falcons to Radisson Blu ahead of WAFCON 2026

Posted : 15 July 2026

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has relocated the Super Falcons to the five-star Radisson Blu Hotel in Casablanca City Center as preparations continue for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Nigeria's nine-time African champions initially opened camp at the Casablanca Marriott Hotel on Monday before the federation approved the move to the Radisson Blu. The decision is aimed at providing an improved environment for the players and technical crew ahead of the continental tournament.

The team's camp has continued to grow, with 10 players already arriving in Casablanca as preparations gather momentum. More members of the squad are expected to report to camp in the coming days before the start of full training sessions.

Among the early arrivals are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and former CAF Women's Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala. Home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko has also joined the camp alongside defenders Oluwatosin Demehin, Glory Ogbonna, Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran.

Midfielders Jennifer Echegini and Christy Ucheibe are also among the first players to report as the Super Falcons begin final preparations for their title defence. The coaching staff is expected to welcome the remaining overseas-based players before tactical sessions intensify.

Nigeria will open their Group C campaign against Malawi on July 28 before taking on Zambia on August 1. The Super Falcons will conclude the group stage against Egypt on August 5, with all three fixtures scheduled to be played in Rabat.

The Super Falcons enter the tournament as the most successful team in WAFCON history and will be aiming to extend their record by securing a 10th continental title. The competition is expected to feature Africa's strongest women's national teams in what promises to be another highly competitive edition.

In addition to competing for the WAFCON trophy, teams will also battle for qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the global tournament, while the fifth-placed nation will earn a place in the intercontinental playoffs.
