NFF Empowers Nigerian Youths Through FIFA-MA Instructors' Course

Posted : 14 June 2025

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has successfully organized this year’s FIFA Member Associations (MA) Technical and Physical Instructors Course at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. The President of the Nigeria Referees Association, Sani Zubairu, expressed gratitude to the NFF for its unwavering support in ensuring the success of the programme.

“We thank God for the success of this first segment of the FIFA MA Course, and we also appreciate the leadership of the NFF for always supporting us. Without their backing, we wouldn’t have achieved our objectives. I urge all participants to apply the knowledge gained in their respective zones, both technically and physically,” said Zubairu.

Similarly, Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Madam Faith Irabor, praised NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON) for his dedication to improving refereeing in Nigeria.

“This programme is a key part of his commitment to transform Nigerian refereeing. You’ll all agree that our referees performed commendably in the just-concluded NPFL season,” she noted.

She encouraged participants to return to their regions and spread the knowledge acquired during the course.

The week-long training, involving 40 elite technical and physical instructors, featured both theoretical and practical sessions. It was led by FIFA Fitness Instructor Boubaker Hanachi (Tunisia) and FIFA Technical Instructor Ali Mohamed Ahmed (Somalia), and supported by Nigerian instructors Felicia Okwugba, Peter Edibe, Cecilia Ogwuche, Emmanuel Imiere, Stella Emoji, and IT/Video Instructor Promise Uwaeme.

The double-segment programme aims to strengthen technical capacity and promote the early recruitment of referees in Nigeria. The second segment—the Young Talents Programme—will begin on Sunday, with another 40 participants.
