The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reaffirmed its commitment to fully support the Super Eagles as they progress into the knockout phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, made this known after Nigeria secured early qualification for the Round of 16.
The Super Eagles booked their place in the next round with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Tunisia in Fes, coming on the back of a 2–1 win against Tanzania in their opening group match. Gusau congratulated the players and Nigerians nationwide, praising the team’s unity, resilience, and quality on the pitch.
Expressing his satisfaction, the NFF president described early qualification as a major boost in a demanding tournament. He noted that securing a knockout spot after just two games is no small achievement and stressed the federation’s resolve to continue motivating the players as the competition progresses.
Gusau also shed light on the logistical and technical challenges involved in preparing the national team. He explained that players are often released from different clubs worldwide and given limited time to train together, sometimes within just nine or ten days that also include travel for matches. Despite these constraints, he commended the players for delivering strong performances.
With federation backing and incentive packages in place, the Super Eagles are now focused on the tougher battles ahead as they aim to push deeper into AFCON 2025.
