Neymar expresses hope for future reunion with Messi at Inter Miami

Brazilian forward Neymar expressed his desire to reunite with Lionel Messi in the future, sharing his hope to play alongside the Inter Miami player again. The close friends previously played together at both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, but Neymar's recent knee injury has ruled out a Copa América face-off this summer.

 

Neymar, who attended the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix, acknowledged Messi's happiness at Inter Miami, where former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez have also joined since Messi's arrival in 2023.

 

Addressing the possibility of playing with Messi once more, Neymar told ESPN Argentina that he hopes for a reunion, emphasizing Messi's greatness in football and expressing joy if Messi is content. Despite their success in winning league titles at PSG, the duo fell short of delivering Champions League glory to the club.

 

Neymar reflected on their challenging time at PSG, stating that they "lived through hell" together before both players departed in 2023, with Messi joining MLS and Neymar signing a two-year contract with Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

 

As Neymar, Brazil's all-time leading scorer, attends to his recovery, he has previously expressed interest in playing in MLS. Last year, on the Fenômenos podcast, Neymar mentioned uncertainty about retiring in Brazil and expressed a desire to play in the U.S., stating, "I'd love to play there, at least for a season." The 30-year-old forward is expected to return to action in August after recovering from his knee injury.
